Karen Nicolas

Co-Founder + Director

Karen’s passion is connecting smallholder farmers in Haiti and around the world with the support they need to reforest.

After years of working in emergency relief, to Karen, reforestation simply made the most sense to help people recover from disasters and live sustainably.

Karen and her husband, Mackenson, a Haitian native, live together with their two children in North Carolina. They love to travel to Cavaillon, Haiti frequently where they spend time with Mackenson’s very large family and work with the greater community in growing trees.

Karen’s most favorite pastime is kayaking on the forested river trails throughout the Southeast U.S.
