Haitian Trees 101 - the Spanish Cedar or “Sed”

People in Haiti cover their croplands with "Sed" trees or Spanish Cedar. They grow so fast and straight, they soften the rain, and provide the right amount of shade for the crops. The trees seen here are just two years old! This month The Haiti Tree Project is growing 4,000 Sed seedlings and many others to cover the mountains of Saint Louis de Sud.
